BAY OF PIGS

150 km from Varadero and 2.5 hours by car, you reach the east coast of the Bay of Pigs in the south of the province of Matanzas. It is in this coastal strip between Playa Larga and Playa Girón where there are several diving spots that allow us to do this fascinating activity without using boats. You just need to enter the water on the shore (between one and two meters deep depending on the chosen site) and start swimming perpendicularly to it and go in. In about 10 or 15 minutes you will reach the wall that runs parallel to the coastline and is about 150 to 200 meters away depending on the access point. At the top of this wall we can find depths ranging from 6 to 15 meters and from there it falls almost vertically to isobaths of 300 to 400 meters, of course the maximum depth to which you descend will be given by the certifications and experience of the clients divers signed up for these dives, in no case will we be below 40 meters which is the maximum depth for recreational diving. Visibility is the main characteristic of this area being able to find it of more than 40 meters, the area between the coast and the wall is colonized by different types of corals and sponges, sometimes forming small coral patches, and descending vertically the tile coral and tubular sponges will predominate. In some places, cement boats have sunk that were used in fishing on our platform by different fishing companies in our country. They are small, 16 meters long (length) and the objective was to create underwater environments at the diving points. Almost all of them were sunk on the edges of the cliff from where you descend down the wall. The fish are varied and in some places we can find more diversity than in others.

Information to keep in mind

• Payment for diving and other services will be in cash.
• The diving time is 45 minutes on each dive, and there is no decompression. When two dives are made in the same place, the routes are different. The place is ideal for the practice of Guided Snorkeling. The place is ideal for beginners, certified and trainees.
• The average annual temperature is 26.5 degrees C, reaching down to 25 degrees in the winter months and up to 32 degrees in the summer.
• The underwater visibility is more than 20 meters, reaching more than 40 meters down the wall. Pick up at the Varadero Hotels is around 8:30 am and return in the afternoon between 5:00 and 6:00 pm. Clients are recommended to bring natural water, some snacks and a towel.
• The bottles are made of 80 F3 aluminum (11.1 liters). They allow the placement (connection) of regulators with INT and DIN systems. Any client who does not have a certification to show will be considered a beginner even if they already have some experience and will have to sign up for the Introduction to Diving course.
• Lunch can be offered to clients when we are returning, this will be around 2.30 pm, it consists of a varied menu that includes seafood and the price of it ranges around 20 euros. (OPTIONAL).

SPECIAL EXCURSION ROCK ENIGMA TRAIL. EAST COAST BAY OF PIGS.

FIRST PART.
It consists of walking a trail of about 650 m to where an open-air cavern known as CUBA-CHECHOSLOVAQUIA opens, there you can enjoy bathing and swimming using the mask that is optional, the landscape is very picturesque with many natural attractions, especially the native vegetation and fauna.
The recommendations for this first part are to bring natural water, shoes such as tennis and some long-sleeved clothing.

SECOND PART.
It consists of a guided snorkeling in the sea, in one of the most attractive points of the East coast of the Bay of Pigs and a few minutes by car from the trail already visited. Concluding this, which should last approximately one hour, we return to Varadero with a possible optional lunch at the request of the Clients.
